According to the Indian Interior Minister Kiren Rijiju, India overtook the UK to become the 5th biggest economy in the world. So now, India’s just behind the US, China, Japan and Germany.

 India overtook the UK

Based on the calculation according to the exchange rate on the last 16th December, 2016, the value of India’s GDP is $ 2.300 billion, while the UK’s is $2,290 billion. This is a great significant milestone in many respects for India and the world, but not surprising. International Monetary Fund (IMF) has forecast that within this fiscal, India would be exchanged with Britain.

After China made Japan to No. 3, now there is new evidence about the change in the correlation of force and the outcome of the relationship in the world. The UK was as “the mother country” of India in the past. Therefore, it is the comedy when now India surpassed the UK.

Because of deciding to leave EU and cannot be negligent to deal with the negative effects, harmful effects and adverse consequences from Brexit in the medium term as well as long-term, the UK Prime Minister has to spend new priorities for relations with the former colonial countries in the framework of the Commonwealth that India is one of the most important members.

The economic inversion will significantly alter the landscape of relations between India and the UK. This helps to enhance the position, role and influence of the BRICS group which India is a party. And more important, require all parties has to recognize India with another attitude. Only surpassing the UK is not enough for India to solve all the current problems. However, that creates more momentum and motivation, reinforces confidence and bravery to solve those problems.
